We are looking for an empathetic Cloud Consultant

who is great with both people and cloud-based technologies, especially Amazon Web Services.

Our absolute must-haves:

  • You love cloud technology for what it can do to enable and empower people
  • You can help craft a vision as well as implement one
  • You are patient and kind, and good under pressure
  • You are willing to learn the ins and outs of a client’s business
  • You can communicate complex technical ideas to nontechnical people
  • You can sell the “right” idea, even if it’s not what the client asked for

You must be self-motivated, driven, and able to deliver client needs on time, working remotely with access to high-speed internet. Occasional client site visits may be required.

Other responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver repeatable, highly-available cloud architectures and application stacks
  • Gather client requirements and deliver on requirements (this includes helping clients understand what they NEED, not just what they WANT)
  • Communicate clearly and openly within the team and with client teams
  • Understand how to apply best practices for different technologies
  • Deliver systems using least privilege, and best security practices
  • Understand how to analyze a software project/product, and determine risks and recommend methods to manage or mitigate those risks

We’d love for you to have skills in lots of these technologies:

  • AWS: CloudFormation stacks and templates, CodePipeline and CodeDeploy
  • AWS ECS / Docker, lambda, RDS – all the simples and elastic services
  • Windows and Linux
  • Networking, network protocols, network security, and encryption technologies
  • Monitoring tools: Cloudwatch, Newrelic, and DataDog
  • Multiple web technologies like Tomcat, Magento, Ruby on Rails, PHP, DotNet core, C# (understanding how these are deployed and managed. It is up to the developers to actually run these)

In addition to technical experience,
you should have a solid background in client services!

And benefit from our project management expertise, team
coordination and communication assistance, and the DevOps
culture we cultivate in every client organization.

Even if you’re a whizbang technomage, you’re probably NOT a good fit if:

  • You like tech more than people
  • You are uncomfortable in new situations
  • You get frustrated with vague or changing requirements
  • You don’t like talking with nontechnical people
  • You like big, bureaucratic organizations

Other responsibilities:

Castlerock goes beyond the traditional cloud engineering model. We truly partner with our clients, understand their business and their needs, and craft solutions for them. Our growth comes from constant referrals because our clients love our work. As a small company, you would have the power to influence the growth and culture of the organization. We value expertise in working with complex technical systems and with people. That’s an uncommon mix, and it’s what sets up apart.

If you’ve got that uncommon mix, write us a letter telling us why you think you’d be a great fit, and submit it along with your resume. Bonus points for submitting a meme you find to be hilariously funny. We want to know who you are!
